On October 30, 2011 an Editorial was published in the Rockland Journal News entitled “Sex Education in School Saves Lives.” The article was written by an individual that identified themselves as Co-chair of the Youth Outreach Committee at Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic. The writer explains that “all children should receive medically accurate education by age 10 — if not sooner.” The writer goes on to explain that the Planned Parenthood national “Let’s Talk” Month (which is held in October) encourages communities to start or continue talking about sex — especially conversation between parents and their children.
What the writer fails to disclose is that the “Let’s Talk” initiative attempts to indoctrinate parents into believing that they need help talking to their children. First what is Planned Parenthood and who are they? Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the nation’s largest operator of abortion facilities in the United States and has admitted to committing over 4,000,000 abortion procedures since it first started doing them in New York State in 1970.
According to PPFA’s most recent annual report (fiscal year 2007-2008), the organization operated a total of 844 clinics and committed 305,310 abortions. PPFA received $349.6 million in government grants and contracts (tax payer funds) for a total income of $1.04 billion, $85 million of which PPFA received as total profit — not bad for a non-profit agency! In addition, PPFA is a major promoter of birth control.
The Rockland County Catholic Coalition knows that parents are the most influential people in a child’s life regarding the proper explanation about human sexuality. Its explicitly stated in the Catholic Catechism that “Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. Parents have a grave responsibility to give good example to their children. The role of parents in education is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitute. The right and the duty of parents to educate their children are primordial and inalienable.”
To study the policies of Planned Parenthood and how they could be influencing your children go to the link provided from the American Life League – http://www.stopp.org. American Life League has the research and strategies parents need to combat this indoctrination of their children. They have conducted extensive research regarding the influence of Planned Parenthood on the family life and how it is detrimental to those living a Christian lifestyle. You will see that the sex education policies of Planned Parenthood do undermine parental rights and runs counter to Catholic moral beliefs.
