To Our Elected Officials,
To these elected officials we encourage you to remain steadfast in your commitment to the fundamental rights as proscribed in the Bill of Rights to the United States Constitution. As you prepare to adopt new laws, we remind you not to allow the morality of your peoples to be degraded; do not permit that by legal means, practices contrary to the natural and divine law be introduced into the fundamental cell – the family. We here at the Rockland County Catholic Coalition are well aware of the serious difficulties experienced by public authorities in this regard, however, “no solution to these difficulties is acceptable which does violence to man’s essential dignity and is based only on an utterly materialistic conception of man himself and of this life.”
The Rockland County Catholic Coalition encourages our elected official when legislating laws where bipartisan lines have been drawn; to look into the only possible solution to these difficult questions – consider the intercession of Divine Providence.
For our elected officials who support the mission of the Rockland County Catholic Coalition through words and deeds may you be revived in your efforts to serve the citizens of Rockland County. With this in mind we ask the intercession of Pope St. Clement of Rome, to protect and guide your efforts in this service to the community:
“Grant to them, Lord, health, peace, concord, and stability, so that they may exercise without offense the sovereignty that you have given them. Master, heavenly King of the ages, you give glory, honor, and power over the things of earth to the sons of men. Direct, Lord, their counsel, following what is pleasing and acceptable in your sight, so that by exercising with devotion and in peace and gentleness the power that you have given to them, they may find favor with you. Amen.”
